Visitation will be Friday, January 6, 2012, at Hixson Brothers, Alexandria, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and from 8:00 a.m. until service time Saturday. Mr. Brittain, 78, of Alexandria, entered eternal rest on January 5, 2012, at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital.
He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. Prior to retirement, he worked as a surveyor, salesman, farmer and rancher.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Adam & Cora Rogers Brittain; daughter, Paula Maureen Kelley; grandson, Nicholas Kelley; brothers, Ralph “Buddy” Brittain, Charles “Chilly” Brittain, Henry Mace Brittain; sisters, Thelma Brittain and Catherine “Caffeine” Stokes.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 42 years, Norma Brown Brittain; sons, William Brittain & wife Jamie of Marksville, Bobby Edwards & wife Janie of Poland, Michael Edwards & wife Sandra of Pineville; grandchildren, Eric Kelley, Daniel Edwards, Elisha Edwards, Eric Edwards, Mathew Brittain, Ashlyn Brittain, and William “Will” Brittain, II.
Pallbearers will be Mathew Brittain, Eric Edwards, Eric Kelley, Daniel Edwards, Julius Walker, Jr. and Kevin Brown. Honorary pallbearers Ralph “T. Bud” Brittain, Jack Hathorn, and Charlie Perry.
