FIFTH WARD-Funeral services for Peggy Vivian Laborde Blanchard will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2012 in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Marksville. Interment will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery #2 in Fifth Ward.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Marksville.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 23, 2012 in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Marksville from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and will resume on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 8:00 a.m. until shortly before funeral service. A rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m.in the chapel on Monday.

Mrs. Blanchard, age 67, of Fifth Ward, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2012 at Bayou Chateau Nursing Home in Simmesport. Mrs. Blanchard was a Quality Control Supervisor at Garan Sewing Industry for 23 years. She was a devoted mother, wife, and sister. She entered eternal rest after a lengthy battle with emphysema.

She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Sherrel Blanchard, who was her dedicated caregiver for four years before she entered the nursing home and one brother, Fenwick Laborde.

She is survived by one son, Glenn Blanchard of Fifth Ward, two brothers, Roland Laborde of Bunkie, Jerry Lee Laborde of Fifth Ward, two sisters, her twin sister, Patricia “Patsy” Dubea of Fifth Ward, and Eola LaJaunie of Fifth Ward, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Kalifey and Bayou Chateau Nursing Home staff and management for going above and beyond to meet her needs unselfishly.
