The Mardi Gras season is in full swing and the last events for Avoyelles Parish have been scheduled. Events in Cottonport, Plaucheville, Simmesport and a a fundraiser on Fat Monday are set .
Thursday, February 7-
Cottonport Elementary Parade-
The Cottonport Elementary School (CES) Mardi Gras parade will be held on Thursday, February 7 at 1 p.m.
The parade route will proceed to downtown Cottonport. The parade is hosted by the student body.
Plaucheville Elementary Parade-
The Plaucheville Elementary Mardi Gras Parade will be held on Thursday, February 7, at 1 p.m. Parade route will begin at Plaucheville Elementary, continue to St. Joseph School and conclude at the Plaucheville Plaza.
The Grand Marshall for the parade this year is Collette Wright, former secretary at PES.
PES students are selling raffle tickets for this event. The top selling boy and girl will be crowned the PES Mardi Gras King and Queen. Runners-up will be members of the royal court. For more information, contact the school at 922-3311.
Monday, February 11
Lundi Gras, or Fat Monday, is set as a fundraiser for the Moncla Little Theatre. It will be held at Bailey's in Marksville.
Tuesday, February 12-
Simmesport Parade-
Mardi Gras Parade on February 12, at 10 a.m. the parade route starts on Mission Street, continues to Highway One, ends up at Yellow Bayou Park. Line up starts at 9 a.m. There is no entry fee.
