Katie Semple, Katie Liberatore, Alexis Johnson and Courtney DeCuir, workers at Fresh Catch Bistreaux in Marksville snapped a photo with "Uncle Sam" during the first annual Avoyelles Arts and Music Fest, held on Wednesday, July 4 in Marksville. The event was such a success plans are already in the works to continue the festival next year.
The winning Marksville High School Football team was honored at the 2012 Mardi Gras Parade. The Krewe of Cyllenius parade was held on Sunday, February 11 in Marksville. The parade is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Avoyelles.
United States Marine LCPL Davin L. Dupuis of Marksville is seen greeting former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates during his recent visit to Camp Dwyer in Afghanistan in June 2011. LCPL Dupuis is a 2009 graduate of Marksville High School and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps shortly after graduation. Upon completion of boot camp at Parris Island, S.C., he served at Camp Lejune, N.C. and Camp Pendleton, Calif. He is currently serving with B Co. HQ PLT of the 1/23 Marines in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. Dupuis is the son of David and Chrissy Lemoine Gagnard of the Brouillette Community, and the late Jamie Dupuis of Cottonport. He is also the grandson of Jimmie and Bonnie Lemoine also of the Brouillette Community. His family anxiously awaits his return home this month. / Courtesy Photo
