They will join St. Joseph in the same tournament. St. Joseph will play Claiborne Christian in the Class-C quarterfinals at 2 p.m. Friday on Field #20. The Lady Eagles advanced with a 7-1 win over Assembly Christian on Tuesday afternoon. It will be the Lady Eagles seventh straight trip to the big tournament. Last year they lost in the semi-finals to Hackberry.

APCS, now 10-15-3, upset Florien on Tuesday before pulling another upset over Forest. This will make the second straight year the Lady Vikings made the tournament. Last year they lost in the Class-B state finals to Choudrant, 5-4.

Down 3-1 and down to their final three outs, the Lady Vikings rallied to the delight of the home crowd. Marlayna Meche, and Liz McNabb singled and an overthrow on McNabb's single allowed the runners to move to second and third. Catie Kuplesky singled but Meche waited too long to break for home and was thrown out at home after Kuplesky reached first base.

With one out, Meagan Coker ripped a 2-0 pitch to the right center field fence for a triple scoring McNabb and Kuplesky to tie the game. catcher Olivia Payne then ended the game with a chopper that bounced over the head of the shortstop into center field allowing Coker to score and giving APCS the thrilling 4-3 win.
