Bunkie, Marksville mayors swear in; will officially take office at 12:00am Thursday

New Marksville Mayor John Lemoine and Aldermen Earl Adams, Mike Gremillion, Pete Jordan Jr., Joyce Prier and Daniel Decuir took their oaths last Thursday. Lemoine's brother Burnell, who is Superintendent of Education of Lafayette, was the emcee.

Johnn Lemoine said his new council will hold its first meeting together this Thursday, at which point he plans to appoint his department heads.

"We're starting to get everything ready for the new administration," Lemoine said.

Mike Robertson, the new mayor of Bunkie, and the city's five aldermen -- Brenda Sampson, Craig Foster, Travis Armand, Rick Henderson and Greg Prudhomme -- took their oaths at 10:30 a.m. this morning at the Bunkie Civic Center.

Both Lemoine and Robertson will officially become mayors at the stroke of midnight tonight.,as July 1st begins.
