Early this morning, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Jena, LA.

Troopers responded to the crash around 4:30 a.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 126 at Fish Fin Road. The crash involved a 2003 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Jason K. Adams (W/M 32 yrs). The Chevrolet was west bound on LA Hwy 126 when Adams lost control and exited the left side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with a tree.

Adams was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Due to the extensive damage to the driver’s area of the vehicle, troopers at the scene were unable to determine if Adams was wearing his seatbelt.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

While not all crashes are survivable, seatbelts can greatly decrease the occupant’s chance of death and will greatly reduce the extent of injury.

Troop E troopers have investigated 44 fatal crashes in 2012, resulting in 49 fatalities.
