Bunkie native Blake Chatelain, who is chairman of the LSU board of Supervisors, will be part of a team announcing a large scale project to improve education in central Louisiana.

The partnership between LSU and local partners to improve science, technology, math and engineering education in Central Louisiana’s rural school districts will be unveiled by Chatelain and others. The announcement will take place Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Peabody Magnet High School Library, located at 2727 Jones Avenue, in Alexandria, La.

Besides Chatelain, attendees at the event will include The Rapides Foundation President Joseph R. Rosier Jr.; LSU Dean of Basic Sciences Kevin Carman; LSU-Alexandria Chancellor David P. Manuel; Louisiana Department of Education Deputy Director of High School Redesign Ralph Thibodeaux; and Superintendent of the Rapides Parish School District Gary Jones.

Chatelain will deliver the closing remarks.
