Vicksburg, Miss – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will close the Lindy C. Boggs Lock and Dam Monday through Friday on 6 June through 22 June 2012 during the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Lock and Dam operations will function normally with no lockage restrictions during hours not listed above and on Saturday and Sunday, 9 and 10 June and 16 and 17 June.

The closure is for repairs to the strut assembly arm on the downstream miter gate and does not create any concerns to the environment or of flooding. An updated status on the availability of the lock chamber can be obtained by phoning 318-324-5467 at the Vicksburg District’s Monroe Navigation Project Office.

 CLOSED: Monday through Friday - 6 June through 22 June 2012 - 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

 OPEN: Monday through Friday - 6 June through 22 June 2012 - 5:31 p.m. to 6:59 a.m.

 OPEN: Saturday and Sunday - 9 and 10 June 2012 – 24 hour operations.

 OPEN: Saturday and Sunday -16 and 17 June 2012 – 24 hour operations.

The Vicksburg District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers encompasses a 68,000-square-mile area across portions of Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana and is responsible for navigation and operation of the locks and dams along the J. B. J. Waterway, the Ouachita-Black River system and the navigation of the Mississippi River in the District’s area.
