Marksville, La., (March 10, 2011) – Paragon Casino Resort announces that Rock-n-Roll performer, Johnny Rivers will be coming home to Louisiana to take the stage at Paragon’s Mari Showroom on Saturday, March 19 at 9 p.m. Tickets are $25 and currently on sale.
Rivers has recorded over 25 albums with sales exceeding 30 million copies. Nine of his songs have reached the top ten on Billboards Hot 100 charts and seventeen have charted in the top 40. His success peaked in the 1960’s with hits like, “Seventh Son,” “Poor Side of Town” and “Secret Agent Man.”
In 1964, Rivers released his first album, At The Whiskey A-Go-Go, which featured a cover of Chuck Berry’s “Memphis,” with a more “bluesy” flare, and charted at number two on the Billboard Charts. The album was awarded a Gold Disk – selling over one million copies.
His biggest hit, “Poor Side of Town,” reached number one on Billboards Hot 100 chart in 1966. His hit, “Secret Agent Man,” was recorded for the opening title of the American broadcast of the British spy series, Danger Man, which followed the fictional stories of a secret agent.
In recent years, Rivers has continued touring performing 50 to 60 shows a year. In 2000, he collaborated with Eric Clapton, Tom Petty and Paul McCartney to record a tribute album to Buddy Holly’s back up band, The Crickets.
