Funeral services for Robena Lewis Donnette will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Amazon Baptist Church with the Revs. Lloyd Scott and Robert White. Burial will be in First St. Paul Baptist Cemetery in Bunkie under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie.

Mrs. Donnette, age 71, of Bunkie, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2011 in her residence. She was a retired nursery teacher and a member of Amazon Baptist Church. She graduated from Carver High School and attended Grambling College. She was baptized at an early age at St. Paul Baptist Church by Rev. H. Y. Woods. She lived in Houston, Texas and then moved back to Bunkie after retiring.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Donnette; her parents, Booker T. and Elidee Hilts Lewis; three brothers, John W. Lewis, Booker T. Lewis, Michael Lewis; and one sister, Francis Lewis.

She is survived by one daughter, Kimberly Lewis of Houston, Texas; one son, John Wesley Lewis of Bunkie; four sisters, Maxine Russell of Houston, Texas, Shirley Williams of Alexandria, Eola Hobbs of Bunkie and Diana Sheppard of Bunkie; two brothers, McKinley Lewis and Melvin D. Lewis of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren, Keri Lewis Rene' of Houston, Texas and John Wesley Lewis of Houston, Texas; one great-grandson, James Earl Lewis of Houston, Texas and one god-child, Michelle Myles of Houston, Texas.
