Kenneth “KD” Gerald Douglass, 71, of Clyde, Texas died Monday in Marksville while on a camping trip with his wife.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bailey-Howard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Cawson of Hamlin officiating, under the direction of Bailey-Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Visitation will be from 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday May 20, 2011 at the funeral home.

Kenneth was born January 7, 1940 in Rotan to Ross Elmer and Lenora Elaine Maberry Douglass. He was a graduate of Trent High School. Kenneth married Charlotte LaVerne Donham in Hamlin on February 22, 1963. They lived briefly in Lamesa and Abilene, moving to Clyde in 1974. Kenneth retired in 1992 from the Texas Department of Transportation, a job he had held for 26 years. He and Charlotte were avid campers and spent the last 12 years traveling in their RV.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gary Ross Douglass.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte of Clyde, Texas; one son, James Bryan Douglass and wife Tjuna of Bryan, Texas; one daughter, Misty Michelle Harris and husband Rick of Wichita Falls, Texas; one brother, Donald Ray Douglass and wife Dorothy of Big Spring, Texas; one sister, Micki Carol Wright and husband Don of Abilene, Texas; three grandchildren, Jacob Ross Douglass, Cullen Ray Douglass, and Emma Grace Gates; one step-granddaughter, Heather Nicole Harris; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends, and his beloved dog Princess and cat Sassy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association, 149 N. Willis, Abilene, Texas, 79603.
