STATE SENATOR ERIC LA FLEUR ANNOUNCES RE-ELECTION BID

Ville Platte, LA – State Senator Eric LaFleur announced today that he will seek re-election to the Louisiana State Senate representing District 28. LaFleur was first elected to the District 28 seat in 2007. Prior to that, he represented House District 38 in Baton Rouge as a member of the State House of Representatives.

In his first term in the State Senate, LaFleur worked with Governor Jindal to pass much-needed ethics reform measures making government more transparent and accountable.  He is currently the Acadiana area's most senior member of the Senate Finance Committee.  In that role, he fought to reduce spending, balance the budget and make state government more efficient.

"Unlike our Congress in Washington DC, the Louisiana State Senate has been able to take some important steps to keep Louisiana heading in the right direction,” Senator LaFleur said.  “We balance our bud

get, live within our means and avoid Washington, DC style partisan politics. I look forward to continuing to be an independent voice for my district and supporting legislation that puts Louisiana first."

In addition to Senator LaFleur’s legislative accomplishments, he successfully led the effort against selling off state owned assets including state owned prisons and the Office of Group Benefits arguing that it was a short sited temporary fix to a long term problem.  He has also been the Senate’s champion for preserving Louisiana’s French heritage and culture, and serves as the Chairman of the French-speaking legislative caucus.

“In Louisiana, we believe in working together to get things done. I plan to continue that proud tradition in my next term, while standing up for Louisiana values in the State Senate,” LaFleur said.

Senator Eric La Fleur is an attorney and business owner. He and his wife Julie live in Ville Platte with their children Atticus (age 3) and Amelie (age 1).  They are expecting their third child in two weeks.
