The Avoyelles Parish Police Jury met in regular session on Tuesday, October 2, 2011 at 5:00 PM in the Police Jury
Meeting Room of the Parish Courthouse, Marksville, Louisiana with the following members present:
Larry Sayes, Mark Borrel, George Romano, Charles Jones, McKinley Keller, Gary Plauche, Louie Laborde and George
Mayeaux.
The meeting was called to order by President George M. Romano.
The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, followed by a prayer led
by Louie Laborde.
President Romano requested that anyone wishing to present comments regarding agenda items must sign up and
indicate the agenda item they wish to discuss. All comments must be limited to three minutes or less.
Larry Sayes opened proposals received from IESI and Diamond Disposal for Solid Waste Collection.
On motion by Larry Sayes, seconded by Charles Jones, the Avoyelles Parish Police Jury does hereby take the Solid
Waste proposals under advisement until the next meeting on November 8, 2011. Motion carried.
George Mayeaux presented proposals opened at 4:30 PM from Dauzat Metal Recycling and Daigrepont Metal Recycling
for the purchase of scrap iron, white goods, etc. at the Parish Maintenance Facility.
On motion by George Mayeaux, seconded by Mark Borrel, the Avoyelles Parish Police Jury does hereby take the
proposals for the purchase of scrap iron, white goods, etc. under advisement until the next meeting on November 8,
2011. Motion carried.
On motion by Mark Borrel, seconded by Louie Laborde, the Avoyelles Parish Police Jury does hereby request to add an
item to the agenda regarding the resignation of Juror Joe Johnson, District 4. This item requires an appointment be
made within 10 days of the resignation and must, therefore, be addressed immediately.
There being no objection or comment from the audience, the motion carried unanimously to add the item.
On motion by Mark Borrel, seconded by Louie Laborde, the Avoyelles Parish Police Jury does hereby appoint Glenn
McKinley to the unexpired term of Joe Johnson, Police Jury District 4. Motion carried.
On motion by Charles Jones, seconded by Larry Sayes, the Avoyelles Parish Police Jury does hereby accept the proposal
from Jonathan Gaspard, Attorney to clear the title of 28 adjudicated Police Jury properties, pending confirmation from
Mr. Gaspard of his proposed charge of $750 per property plus costs on 28 properties. Motion carried.
There being no further business, on motion by Charles Jones, seconded by Louie Laborde, the meeting adjourned.
