MARKSVILLE-Funeral services for Pastor Floyd Murray of Mansura will take place at the St. John Congregational Baptist Church of Marksville on Saturday, November 12, 2011, beginning at 11:00am. Visitations will also take place at the church, prior to the funeral services, from 8:00am until 11:00am. Burial services will commence at the church cemetery. Services and arrangements are under the direction of Escude Funeral Home.
Pastor Floyd Murray, age 45, passed away at the Avoyelles Hospital of Marksville. He was the pastor of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church of Moreauville and Pleasant Green Baptist Church of Odenburg. He was a police officer for the Marksville City Police for several years and a D.A.R.E. instructor for the Sheriff’s Department for 17 years. He was the owner and president of the “JDZ Basketball League” and the vice president of the Avoyelles Industrial Education Baptist Association. He was also the Youth President of the Riverside District Association and was serving his 2nd term as Alderman in the town of Mansura as Police Commissioner. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest & Wellor Wise James Murray. He is survived by his; wife, Amanda Murray of Mansura; children, Jasmine Shanay Murray, De’Layna Lynn Murray, both of Mansura, Zacchaeus Trey Murray of Baton Rouge; grandchildren, De’Zarian Mijay Murray & De’Jon Jordé Lavalais; brothers, Ernest Murray, Jr. of Mansura, Daniel Murray of Marksville, Jeffery Batiste of Clairfield, TN, Nicholas Batiste of Austin, TX; sisters, Lisa Batiste of Mansura, Kim Bibbins of Mansura, Erma Jacobs of Marksville.
