A serious accident on Andrus Street in Marksville during the early morning hours of Saturday, November 12, sent nine people, age 17 and under, to area hospitals. Three of nine suffered serious injuries.
Everyone in the vehicle involved were ejected.
Marksville Police Chief Ellis Walker stated the police report said the accident happened at 12:50 a.m. on Saturday when an SUV driven by Dustin Sampson, age 17 of Voinche Lane in Mansuram was heading west on Andrus Lane at a high rate of speed. Sampson, allegedly, lost control of the vehicle.
The vehicle then exited the street and hit a concrete embankment and culvert. The vehicle then hit a tree before flipping over and ejecting all of the nine occupants of the vehicle.
One person was transported by ambulance to Rapides General in Alexandria and two others were taken to St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria. The other six passengers were taken to Avoyelles Hospital for treatment.
Chief Walker did not know if the driver or the juveniles attended local schools. He did say that blood and toxicology tests are being conducted. Police are waiting on the results on the tests.
