Avoyelles Parish School Board member was in a run-off with Caroly Hill of Baton Rouge for this vacant seat on the state board of elementary and secondary education. Hill won in the district, but Guillory won in Avoyelles.
Run-off for sheriff:
Doug Anderson, incumbent, of Simmesport (1149 absentee) 6943 WINNER
Damon Didier of Marksville (787 absentee) 5109
Incumbent Sheriff Doug Anderson won re-election against challenger Damon Didier, the grandson of former Avoyelles Sheriff F.O. "Potch" Didier in this run-off.

Two educational tax issues, sales and property to provide funding to improve the Avoyelles Parish School system. As both taxes passed, teachers and staff will now be given a much needed raise, school officials say.
