Great Southern Wood Preserving, Abbeville, Al., has acquired Elder Wood Preserving Co., Mansura, as its eleventh treating facility.
"For more than 30 years, Elder Wood Preserving has been a leader in our industry in Louisiana and portions of the Gulf Coast," said Great Southern president and c.e.o. Jimmy Rane. "Our involvement will simply enable that plant to bring more products and more resources to its customers than ever before, while allowing us to expand our footprint."
Elder Wood was founded by Joe Elder of Marksville who initiated the sale, but passed away weeks before it was completed.
"It's an exciting opportunity for all involved and something I wish Joe Elder could have been here to celebrate with us today," Rane added.
Joe Elder died October 10.
