The Louisiana Oil & Gas Association will hold a "State of the Industry" meeting in Alexandria Thursday, February 2.

Topics include the Tuscaloosa Marine Shale and Austin Chalk which are stirring interest in Avoyelles Parish.

The meeting is the fifth in a series of regional luncheon meetings with the purpose of educating local professionals on the current state of Louisiana's oil and gas industry .

It is set at at the Best Western Conference Center beginning at 11 a.m.

Shale gas exploration and development which holds promises in central Louisiana will be discussed.

Other topics for the meeting include a preview of the upcoming legislative session and a look at the state's legal environment focusing on Legacy lawsuits, the Environmental Protection Agency and its efforts to regulate hydraulic fracturing, and the status of U.S. offshore drilling.

LOGA President Don G. Briggs is the featured speaker. A question-and-answer session will follow.

Early registration for the event is encouraged. Registration s $27 per seat. Lunch is included. Tables of eight and individual seats are available at a discounted rate.
