Jan. 25, 2012-- The Fools Bay Bridge on Grassy Lake Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in Avoyelles has been closed by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) due to safety concerns.

Deteriorating bank conditions have resulted in damage to the pilings that support the western approach to the bridge. The bridge will be closed until necessary repairs are completed.

There is no alternative vehicle route at this time to the east side of Fools Bay. Attempts will be made to install a low water crossing on Fools Bay. However, recent and forecasted rainfall may delay installation of the crossing. Updates on the status of the bridge repair will be provided as progress is made.
