Tinnie Ruth Ortego O’Brien, age 88, went to her heavenly home Wednesday, April 4, 2012. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister who enjoyed her family gatherings. She was born April 17, 1923 in Marksville, LA and moved to Birmingham in 1957 where she worked for 29 years with the Southern Company. She was a long time member of Huffman Baptist Church, where she enjoyed numerous mission trips, her weekly Sunday school class and activities, and assisting in the serving of the Wednesday night suppers.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Woodrow E. O’Brien; parents, Louis and Dora Brouillette Ortego of the Brouillette Community; three sisters, Mrs. Tressie Woodworth of Marksville, Mrs. Lela Bordelon of Marksville, Mrs. Leona Barton and an infant brother.

She is survived by her sister, Joyce Scallan; daughter Terrye Dachelet (Ron) and son Woody O’Brien (Ginny); seven grandchildren, Dawn Wilczek (Tom), Dana Dachelet, Darren Dachelet, Whitney Dachelet, Scott O’Brien (Yolima), Jon O’Brien (Jamie) and David O’Brien (Amy); six great grand children, Abby, Haley, Harper, Nicolas, Banks, and Josephine.

A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, April 9, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. followed by a service at 10:00 a.m. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville, AL. Memorials may be made to Huffman Baptist Church.
