Mrs. Bordelon, age 88, of Bunkie, formerly of Marksville, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 in The Guardian House in Lake Charles. A native of Chicago, IL, she and her family moved to New Orleans in 1932. She attended LSU and graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Institutional Management and completed a Dietetic Internship at the University of Michigan. She had been a member and past president of the Marksville Garden Club, the Louisiana Garden Club Federation, having served as Protocol Chairman and past president of the Eighth District Flower Show Judges Council and past president of the Landscape Design Council.She was on the Founding of Marksville Celebration committee in 1959, 1969, 1979 and was Queen of the 1989 celebration. She was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church in Bunkie and was a past board member of Camp Hardtner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Filmore P. Bordelon, Jr., MD; two daughters, Marilynn "Lynn" Gilly and Margaret "Peggy" Waguespack and her brother, Randon Larson. Survivors include her daughter, Marjorie B. Melancon and husband, Danny, of Bunkie; her son, Filmore "Fil" Paul Bordelon, III and wife, Sara, of Lake Charles; eight grandchildren, Leigh Gilly and wife, Lisa, of Baton Rouge, Martin Gilly and wife, Mary Margaret, of Baton Rouge, Andrew Gilly and wife, Brandy, of New Orleans, Stuart Gilly and wife, Kim, of Baton Rouge, Daniel Melancon and wife, Beth, of Bunkie, David Melancon and wife, Meredith, of Bunkie, Lori Broussard and husband, Michael, of Lake Charles and Filmore "Paul" Bordelon, IV and wife, Natalie, of Zachary; eleven great grandchildren and two nieces, Chris St. Clair of Kensington, MD and Marilynn Yeghiazarian of CA.
