A Mass of Christian Burial for Jerry Lee Laborde will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Our Lady of Lourdes with Rev. Silverino Kwebuza and Rev. Paul Kunnumpuram officiating. Interment will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Church Cemetery under the direction of Kramer of Fifth Ward.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday and from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Kramer of Fifth Ward.

A Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. The family and friends will share their memories with Rev. Keith LaMartiniere speaking.

Jerry Lee Laborde, 75, of Fifth Ward, passed away April 19, 2012, in his residence.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Hennessey Laborde; one sister, Peggy Blanchard and one brother, Fenwick Laborde.

He was a veteran of the National Guard and the United States Marine Corps and served in the Korean War. He was a longtime member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 9818 and the American Legion Post #402. Jerry owned and operated the Phillips 66 gas station in Fifth Ward from 1959-1976. He drove a school bus for the Avoyelles Parish School Board for fifteen years. Later in life he owned Jerry Lee’s Barber Shop in Fifth Ward. He will be remembered by his kind spirit and socializing with his family and his friends whom were his second family. Paw will be missed greatly by his grandchildren whom he loved dearly.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marie Laborde of Fifth Ward; one son, Louie Laborde and his wife, Mary of Cottonport; two daughters, Susan Gunn and her husband, Jerald and Tammy Tassin and her husband, Scott; six grandchildren, Alana Laborde, Brittany Cannady, Jenna Laborde, Casey Laborde, Tristen Tassin and Abby Tassin; two sisters, Eola LaJaunie and her husband, Wayne and Patsy Dubea all of Fifth Ward and one brother, Roland Laborde and his wife, Maryetta of Bunkie.

Memorials may be sent to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Fifth Ward.
