For the third time in three months there has been a domestic violence case in which a man shot a woman, and then killed himself.

According to Sheriff Doug Anderson a 27 year old woman was shot and killed by her boyfriend who then turned the gun on himself firing one shot to his head killing him immediately. The Sheriff said at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday night the 911 Center received a call from a family member reporting the incident which occurred at 3604 Hwy 451, Moreauville, La.

Upon entering the residence, deputies found the bodies of Niki D. Garlington, age 27 and Brandon P. Bonnette, age 34, apparently deceased within the home.

Investigators believe that Garlington and Bonnette engaged in a physical encounter which escalated with Bonnette shooting Garlington in the torso with a .357 caliber revolver. At some point after the initial shooting, Bonnette turned the gun on himself firing one shot to his head.

Deputies said that the couple had not been seen in a couple of days which prompted family members to go to the residence. An approximate time of death is yet to be determined.

All toxicology and analysis is pending with the Avoyelles Parish Coroner’s Office.
