Yesterday afternoon Louisiana State Police investigated a single-vehicle crash in Franklin Parish that left a teen driver seriously injured.
At approximately 1:40 pm on Saturday, May 5, Louisiana State Police Troopers responded to the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Erskin Road, one mile north of LA Hwy 130, in Franklin Parish. A 2004 Ford pick-up truck was traveling north on Erskin Road when it ran off the right side of the roadway and the driver overcorrected, which caused the vehicle to roll several times.
The sixteen year-old female driver from Winnsboro was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the truck and was airlifted to Rapides General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. A fifteen year-old female passenger from Winnsboro was wearing a seatbelt and was transported to Franklin Medical Center with minor injuries.
While impairment is not suspected, routine toxicology tests are pending.
The driver was cited for Careless Operation and Driving with a Restricted License.
