DUSON – A Duson alderman is facing criminal charges after being caught with a crack pipe. Alderman Gerald Aleman was one of three people arrested last week in St. Mary Parish.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Deputies say the arrest of Duson Alderman Gerald Aleman happened the evening of Sunday, March 23.
According to deputies Aleman was sitting in a car at a parking lot with three other people when a patrol unit noticed something strange going on. Upon further investigation, it was found that the Duson resident dropped a crack pipe.
Upon conducting a search, deputies spotted an open container in the back seat with a rock of crack inside the car.
Duson Mayor Susie Lagneaux says she is not getting involved in this case, however, she said that if Aleman is convicted, he will have to resign.
“We’re just going to let the courts handle it and wait to find out what happens. We don’t know a lot of information,” she said.
The three other people caught along with Aleman were identified as Roxanne Bihm, Norman Alleman and Travis Mouton.
Aleman was released on a $3,200 bond. He is scheduled to appear in St. Mary Parish court on May 14.
