Lady Cats batter Breaux Bridge, 5-1

The Eunice High Lady Cats broke out midgame to steal the lead, beating the Breaux Bridge Lady Tigers 5-1 and advancing to the second round of the Class 4A state playoffs.

Breaux Bridge drew first blood in the top of the first, when Layla Serrette doubled and was driven home by Jena Marks' base hit.

But the Lady Cats came back in the bottom of the fourth, with Brittany Faul driving in the tying run.

The Lady Cats then loaded the bases with two outs before scoring two runs on a wild pitch for the lead.

Camille Faul doubled for the fourth run of the inning.

The Lady Cats added an insurance run in the bottom of the fith when Blair Fuselier doubled and scored on K.K. Devillier's base hit.

Pitcher Jori LeJeune and the Lady Cats' defense silenced the Lady Tiger bats from the second inning on.

LeJeune pitched the win, giving up one earned run off of three hits and two walks, while striking out nine batters in seven innings.

The Lady Cats will face the winner of Tuesday's Live Oak-Belaire game later this week.
