CROWLEY – Crowley Mayor Greg Jones is announcing the start of the City of Crowley’s Keep Crowley Clean Campaign for 2008.

The campaign will begin on Saturday, June 14, 2008 to improve neighborhoods and create an appealing and environmentally safe city. The City need your assistance as well as our children’s to help with the annual Trash Bash Drive. A meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 29, 2008 at 5 p.m. at Crowley City Hall to discuss the logistics for the day.

The Trash Bash Drive will begin at 8 a.m. at the Crowley City Hall (5th Street and Parkerson Avenue). Garbage bags and gloves will be provided by the city. Participants are encouraged to wear long sleeve shirts, pants, comfortable shoes and sun protection.

This is a perfect opportunity for youth groups to earn community hours and assist with a valuable civic project. Of course, adults are always welcome and volunteering would serve as a perfect example for our youth to learn and appreciate the importance of a clean, litter-free city.

If your organization is unable to help that weekend, the City suggests adopting a city block, street, or park. This project will involve trash pickup regularly in the area you adopt. For your efforts, the city will erect a sign proclaiming your organization’s participation and contribution to our cleanest city project. If you have other ideas to improve the city’s appearance, please bring the information to the meeting. We would love to hear from you and your organization.

Please help clean Crowley by volunteering on Saturday, June 14, 2008. To participate, call Sherrie or Tiffany Handy at 783-0824 and let us know if you are able to attend.

“I am certain with the assistance of your organization and all the good citizens of Crowley, we can make our city litter-free and proud,” said Jones.
