On February 3, 2010, Louisiana State Troopers assigned to the Bureau of Investigation, Gaming Enforcement Section received information from Boomtown Casino related to a possible cheating and swindling scheme between a Boomtown Casino dealer and a patron. Troopers identified the dealer as Tam T. Tran (A/F, age 50) of Avondale, LA. The patron was identified as Thanh T. Nguyen (A/F, age 44) of Bridge City, LA. Troopers then began reviewing surveillance video from the casino and found that while Nguyen was playing blackjack, Tran would add additional chips to Nguyen’s winning bets, not collect Nguyen’s losing bets and give chips to Nguyen’s “push” or tie bets.

The cheating and swindling scheme amounted to over $1,000.00 on February 3, 2010. Investigation and video surveillance indicates that the scheme was also performed on other dates. The true amount of money associated with the scheme is still under investigation. Tran and Nguyen were placed under arrest and booked at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center. Both women were charged with felony theft over $500.00 and cheating and swindling, which is also a felony.
