Alleged staged crash ring busted

Troopers with Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigation Division Region II Insurance Fraud Unit, arrested five people on charges ranging from felony theft to insurance fraud. In September 2009, troopers obtained information from the Department of Insurance about a possible staged crash ring in St. Landry Parish.

During the course of their investigation, troopers obtained evidence regarding an alleged staged crash from which five persons each filed a separate claim with the insurance company, with claims totaling about $113,000.

Arrested today were:

Lora Nobles, 40, 388 Kennerson Rd., Opelousas, insurance fraud, felony theft;

Charlene Frame, 47, 256 Virginia Elizabeth Rd. Port Barre, insurance fraud;

Moses Williams, 58, 5495 Railroad Ave. Opelousas, insurance fraud

Elridge Tezano, 46, 610 Joseph, Opelousas, insurance fraud, felony theft;

Phil Fontenot, 49, 317 Lewis, Opelousas, insurance fraud, felony theft.

Anyone with information regarding persons fraudulently obtaining money from an insurance company is asked to call Louisiana State Police detectives at 337-262-3341.
