Two Men Arrested in Shootings at Lake Providence Night Club

Two Lake Providence men have been arrested by Louisiana State Police Detectives following the shooting death of one man and injury to another.

The shootings occurred on April 14, 2010 at about 10:30 pm at Uncle Darrell's Mini Market in Lake Providence. Kenneth Jones (19 yoa from Lake Providence) and Jeremy Weaver (28 yoa from Lake Providence) got into an altercation that resulted in both men pulling guns on each other. Both men fired their weapons with the intent to kill the other. Both men missed their intended targets and struck uninvolved bystanders.

Kenneth Jones' line of fire indicated that he shot Phillip Brown (28 yoa from Lake Providence). Brown was transported to the East Carroll Parish Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Jeremy Weaver's line of fire indicated that he shot Earl Gilmore (22 yoa from Lake Providence). Gilmore was transported to Glenwood Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

Kenneth Jones was booked at the Riverbend Detention Center for Second Degree Murder. Jeremy Weaver was booked at the Riverbend Detention Center for Attempted Second Degree Murder.

The investigation is on-going at this time.
