Visitation: 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 27, 2010 at Hixson Brothers, Alexandria and Friday from 8:00 a.m. until service time.
Services for Katherine Brittain Stokes will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 28, 2010 in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria with Dr. James Sample and Rev. David Boothe officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ruby.
Pallbearers will be Randy Beaubouef, Jeffery Beaubouef, Mike Shelton, Pete Shelton, William Brittain and Odell Lamartiniere, Jr.
Mrs. Stokes, 90, of Alexandria passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Rapides Regional Medical Center.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Alexandria. Mrs. Stokes will be remembered for her gift of Hospitality. During her working career she was an Elementary School Teacher
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Adam and Cora Rogers Brittain; brothers, Charles (Chilly) Brittain, Ralph (Buddy) Brittain, Henry Mace Brittain, sister, Thelma Elaine Brittain.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 65 years, John Dempsey Stokes of Alexandria, daughter, Tesa Stokes Fontenot and her husband, Dr. Eudice Fontenot of Little Rock, Arkansas; brother, Paul Rogers Brittain of Poland; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Thursday at Hixson Brothers, Alexandria from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. until service time.
