Plaucheville Police continue to investigate a possible rape that occurred in the village limits in April. However, the police department has refused to release any details of the incident because the case is still under under investigation.

The Marksville Weekly News printed a story this week that stated Russell Gagnard, age 47 of 3595 Highway 107 South Plaucheville, was arrested by Plaucheville Police on April 28 and charged with aggravated rape of a four-year old child. Gagnard is still being held at the Avoyelles Parish Detention Center #1 under a $1 million bond.

The Avoyelles Grand Jury, meeting last week, found a true bill on Gagnard, which means there appeared to be enough evidence to move forward with a trial. A true bill does not determine guilt or innocence.

No other details about the arrest have been released.
