Welcome to our newly redesigned website. As regular readers of AvoyellesToday.com we know that you depend on our site for information about Avoyelles Parish. So we rebuilt the site to make it even easier for you to find the content you want from throughout the parish. We also added new features such as a community calendar where readers can add their events.

There will be areas for regular columnists, and a more comprehensive weather report right on our front page. In addition, registered users can sign up for a daily email of headline news as well as a breaking news alerts.

Marketplace

There is also an online business directory called Marketplace where every business in Avoyelles Parish will be listed. Looking for a plumber, a realtor or a place to eat? The AvoyellesToday.com marketplace can help with phone numbers, addresses and even a handy map.

Coming soon we'll be offering an area where you can place your classified ad online or in the newspaper without having to make a telephone call.

All of the news content from our old site is still available and will be easily accessed by our new search feature, which returns results quickly and easily. We are still working on this feature so keep checking back.

User registration

Because of the changes we made to the system registered users will have to reregister on the site. You will be receiving an email with easy-to-follow instructions. If you haven't registered before, just click the Sign In link at the top right of every page. Registration is quick and easy and allows you to fully participate in the site.

In addition, you can also subscribe to The Marksville Weekly News or The Bunkie Record directly from the site.

Look around

There is a lot more happening on our website, but rather than tell you it will be better if you experience it for yourself. So we invite you to come in and have a look around. We know you will like what you see.

As we celebrate our second year of providing you with the most up-to-date news and information in digital form, we are proud of our commitment to the parish, and we strive to always have your news available any time of the day or night immediately on your computer screen, cell phone or other digital device.

We always welcome your feedback as we continue to improve our site, so please call or write with your comments.

Charlie Melocon gets keys to the city? How many townhall meetings did he hold here, zero. And we forgot all that he did for us, like voting for the bailout of the rich, for Universal Healthcare that cut medicade/medicare,giving the washington burocrats an "A" in job performance, cleaning up the oilspill(hu-hum) and swearing that he never lies.

It just makes me wonder what he has promiced to do for us. Instead of giving people in need a hand up, he is giving handouts that only keeps us beholding to Big Government that has bankrupted our nation and will continue to bankrupt the electorite.

Gimie, Gimie, gimmie is all that people want around here. Instead of fending for ourselves like the founders did, we want everything handed to us on a silver platter. I don't want handouts' I want the ability to do for myself not what the most holy government to give me. If you think the "Rich" people are bad, just where do YOU get your Jobs. Those Evil rich people give jobs to those who are not onthrapanerial and make wrong choices.

If you suceed, that gives you self esteem, even if you try you are better off. I don't want a socialist government in charge of my freedoms. Because freebies comes at a price, guess what, your freedom. Many cry freedom of choice, where's mine. You have a choice to make Nov. 2nd, will it be freedom or socialism?
