A Cottonport man was arrested on Monday, August 23, on a warrant issued by Lafayette Parish. During a search of the man, Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s deputies, allegedly, discovered suspected crack cocaine leading to a drug arrest.

Eric Dupas, age 32, of Cottonport, was arrested by deputies Monday afternoon on a $15,000 non-support warrant from Lafayette Parish. Dupas was spotted leaving a local business and arrested by deputies without incident.

A subsequent search of his vehicle revealed nine grams of crack cocaine packaged in a manner consistent with street sales. According to Sheriff’s Department records, this is his third drug related arrest in Avoyelles Parish since January.

Dupas was booked into Avoyelles Detention Center charged with the non-support warrant from Lafayette Parish and possession of a Schedule II CDS with Intent to Distribute(Avoyelles). Bond has not been set on the drug charge. He is awaiting transfer to Lafayette Parish on the non-support charge.
