A Cottonport man was arrested Avoyelles Parish Sheriff Office detectives investigated a compliant of sexual crime. The man was arrested Wednesday, September 1.

Investigators have arrested Kevin P. Dauzat, age 41 of Cottonport on four counts of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile. Investigators say a complaint was filed by a parent of a 16 year old juvenile, allegedly, after they intercepted a text message from Dauzat to the teen detailing instructions for a weekend meeting between Dauzat and the teen.

Sheriff’s officials said that it was determined during the course of the investigation that Dauzat befriended the juvenile and developed a relationship with the teen over the past several months. Dauzat admitted to investigators that it was during this time that he engaged in sexual intercourse with the teen on at least four occasions.

Dauzat was booked into the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Department Detention Center #1. Dauzat’s bond has been set at $500,000.
