A suspect of the Effie bank robbery has returned to Avoyelles. But this time in handcuffs.

46-year-old Michael D. Gordon of Pineville/Libuse has been arrested without incident at his home at 46 Gunter Road around noon and charged with bank robbery of the Cottonport Bank in Effie.

The Avoyelles Sheriff says he is charged with with armed robbery and false imprisonment. Officials think he is the same suspect who robbed the branch bank and tied two tellers up Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators searched Gordon's home which had a vehicle matching the description of a truck which left the robbery scene Tuesday. Rapides officials say evidence that has been recovered links Gordon to the robbery. Steve Martel of the APSO said it appeared the majority or possibly all of the stolen money has been recovered.

The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's received an anonymous call this morning with tips linking Gordon to the robbery.

The robbery carries a penalty of 10 – 99 years, and the false imprisonment carries a sentence of ten years. His bond is set at $1 million dollars.
