Two incumbents won re-election to the Avoyelles Parish School Board in Saturday's election, as they fought off attempts to unseat them. Another incumbent, Ricky Juneau, was not as successful.

Carlos Mayeux and Lizzie Ned will return to serve another four years on the board. Mayeux, of Hamburg, defeated former school board member Vicky Mayeux of Bordelonville who tried to upseat him. Ned held her seat despite efforts by Lucins Eggins, Jr. in Bunkie.

New faces elected to the board were former LSUA professor James Gauthier of Hessmer, Michael Pea Lacombe of Cottonport and Cindy Hill of Marksville. Gauthier defeated incumbent Juneau. Lacombe won over three candidates in the race to replace the seat which Dr. Jim Guillory did not seek re-election. Hill won the seat long held by John Lemoine who did not seek reelection because he was elected as Mayor of Marksville. Robert Dunbar came out second.
