No cost cancer screenings offered May 7&8 in Marksville

The Cenla Medication Access Program cancer screening mobile unit will be in Avoyelles Parish on May 7 and 8 to offer free breast, colorectal and cervical cancer screenings for eligible Central Louisiana residents.
The mobile unit will be located in the parking lot of the Marksville Health Unit at 657 Government Street in Marksville on Tuesday, May 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Wednesday, May 8, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Services include mammograms, cervical screenings and take-home colorectal cancer kits. Appointments are required.
Annual mammogram screenings are recommended for women ages 40-64. Cervical screenings for women ages 25-64, and colorectal screenings for men and women ages 45-64 are recommended every other year. Residents should contact the Cancer Screening Project to see if they qualify; the uninsured and those with Medicaid coverage are accepted.
The Cancer Screening Mobile Unit is a partnership between The Rapides Foundation, CMAP and the Partners in Wellness Program at Feist-Weiller Cancer Center at LSU Health Shreveport.
