Sadie St. Romain, Marksville

A mass of Christian burial will be offered for Sadie St. Romain on July 2nd, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marksville. Burial will follow at St Joseph Mausoleum #2 under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Homes in Marksville.
The family request that visitation be offered at Hixson Brothers funeral home in Marksville on July 2nd, 2024 with immediate family viewing from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. and public viewing from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. A rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m.
Sadie passed away peacefully at Hessmer Nursing Home on June 28th, 2024 surrounded by her family at the age of 93. She was born on December 4th, 1930 to Elma and Cleveland Couvillion. She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Joseph Catholic church all of her life and an active member of the Catholic daughters. She married the love of her life Fred St. Romain on October 17th, 1948. They had 6 children and were married for 58 yrs. She retired from the Avoyelles Parish Health Unit where she was employed for 20 years.
She was an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother. She had a warm loving personality and a contagious smile and always brought laughter into a room. Her children and grandchildren will always remember her for her wonderful cooking. She loved cooking big Sunday lunches and welcomed everyone. Chicken fricassee, sweet macaroni and cheese and homemade bread were always on the menu.
She is preceded in death by her husband Fred St. Romain; her youngest son Peter St. Romain; her parents Elma and Cleveland Couvillion; her brother Julius Couvillion and sister Gertrude Borrel.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children; Robert (Jenny) St. Romain, Jackie (Roy) James, Perry (Janelle) St. Romain, Jenny (Benny) Brouillette, June (Bobby) Bordelon, and daughter in law Ilie St. Romain, 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, siblings Rhea Daigrepont and Gene Couvillion and many nieces and nephews who adored Aunt Sadie.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jay, Tucker, and Ben St. Romain, Tema Brouillette, Justin James, PJ St. Romain, Allen St. Romain, Alex and Tyler Brouillette, and Ryan Bordelon.
The family wishes to thank our mother’s caregivers at Hessmer Nursing Home for their love, care and compassion shown to her “Sadie Lady” during these past few years.
